Epic enough

Now, for the MIXING 0.0

I feel like there's a empty gap in the "range" of the sound just between the base and the second guitar.

You recorded the bass, right??? I would suggest you consider backing it with another rich sampled bass, just to give extra range and to fill the gap between the bass and the guitars. I feel like the base is not as powerfull as it may be. The second guitar needs more thickness, could even be layered with the other base!

At 1:18, you could tweak the volume up a little bit for the significant notes PLUS a echo effect, would be nice (sorry, I'm dreaming!! :P)

Drums are perfect, LEAVE THEM AS IS!!!

Now, these are my opinions, mabe I'm completely wrong, but remember, if you add something (like a second bass) make it subtle, and DO NOT OVERDO IT!!

Thanks man, I'll do what I can; you'll have to tell me what you are using to reference.
Bass is pretty up there, centered around 70-120 hz, cut in the mid frequencies.
Lowest guitar butts up to it at 90hz so theres even some overlap. I might have another go at mixing it.

Vocals are intended to go overtop so I didn't overdo the 'frontal' area.

If i resample bass, it would just be with some distortion, paralleled very light.

Thanks for the great review, glad you like the song!!

For the Win!!

from your PM
"The weak point of this track is the mixing. I know, its metal and all, but I can't help but to feel like "Oh my god! This could be so much more epic!" This is what separate good from best, and you are so close!!!"

Thanks man; believe it or not, there was alooot of mixing; just drums bass guitar, but layered up to 12 times, takes a bit to get them smoothed out.

But I def know what you are talking about. It takes sufficient betterment to be the best of the best and that's what I strive for! Thanks for the great review!

Also, thanks for PMing me so I could get your thoughts!

Wow... I did not see THAT comming!!! Direct download!

The only thing, the only itch (which by the way numberous great NG classics has :P) is at 3:54. It's a personnal opinion which may not be shared by everyone, but a soft part like this, when misused (and god it's easy to overuse it), it can kill a song. Be careful to not break the rythm, you almost got too far. A plain silence is deadly!

Other than that, Bravo!!!

Oh, and the intro is a little bit generic, but hey! It's not a bad thing!!

Directinput responds:

Yea, the soft part didn't turn out at all as I had hoped :/ thanks for reviewing!
