Clean!

However I think the piano is a bit too clean, great effort otherwise.

Blackmajiick responds:

Thanks for the review. I'll pile more reverb on the piano as soon as I get the chance.
Maybe a low-pass filter, too.

:o

The voices still sound weird, I'd like to take a look at it if you let me. There's something bugging me in there, it's like if you just put a high-pass filter in there, it feels a little bit wrong.

As always, brilliant.

Troisnyx responds:

And NG didn't even tell me there was an audio review! D:

I think you're quite right to point that out -- Step himself, when judging my NGAPTAC submission, noted that he has the *exact same mic* as I do, and to bring out the vocal presence, it almost always sounds like a high-pass filter has been put through that thing. What I do know is this: on Audacity, I tried to avert the problem by boosting the bass frequencies on all voice tracks, and then bouncing the tracks on FL and EQing them accordingly.

If you'd like the FLP with the sounds in them, I'll be glad to pass them to you -- please, please do take a look. Thanks for listening! x

Sweet preview, it's already awesome, and yet there's still a lot of work to do :P

But of course, we can't just ignore Ultima Eternus when we hear that, both pieces are so alike. That said, I'd like to remind one solid thing about UE which isn't appearing in this preview, it's how you played with the themes. Now, I completely understand that this is only a 10 minutes preview, and I wouldn't be surprised at all that you already knew that, but the way you reintroduced previous theme with subtle difference, or other times with completely different intensity was astounding, to such an extant that when I was listening to it, I was literally in a "Wtf, I can't understand how awesome it is" state. I knew that it was awesome, and some part seemed familiar, but I couldn't say why. Maybe the length of the whole piece amplified the feeling. But in any case, whatever direction you will go, I am absolutely sure it will be epic.

Producing something at par with Ultima Eternus is a lot of work, and well... this preview alone assures me that we will not be deceived! That must be a hefty work load, and I applause your engagement. I would never be able to do that in my entire life, you have talent. Don't give up!

Lashmush responds:

There will be a recurring theme in this as well, presented in many incarnations throughout the whole.

Thanks very much for your review. c:

Haha! Really nice, was looking forward to it! Way better with a good mic!

However I feel like the voice has a little bit too much mids, I suggest you trim it down with an EQ in a v-like position.

Everything else was astounding. Respect.

Troisnyx responds:

By V you mean V pointing downward in the lower mid frequencies?
At any rate, thank you so much for listening... and for suggesting that mic! :D

Nice! Improving!

BowserThedestructive responds:

Thanks it started out as a new track, then I was like I can now make use of TF2 sound samples thanks to a program which lets me extract stuff from steam games. Then the song became the background for the sound samples I made a story out of along the way making the song the basis of the sound samples so light and well the way it turned out.

We see that it was kind of structured, BUT too much dissonance. Way too much :P

Also, those drums intros you're using sounds REALLY generic, almost as if you were using the same thing every time. It's starting to get redundant. Just sayin' :P

Keep going,

BowserThedestructive responds:

I was using the same transition from one part to the next I got lazy. I see why there might be some dissonance, but I may enjoy the dissonance I suppose. I shall try harder next time ;)

Haha, you could be surprised how far you can go with 13$ :P

First, listen to that:

The quality is going to be better if you follow that.

You could use an auto-tune too, if you use FL there's one called Pitcher. Inform yourself, that's an easy good sounding thing. You could use an auto-tuned track as a reference too, signing while listening to it, it can help alot

Lastly, general tips for the voice recording (NG is awesome, right?)

Good luck!!

TjpjMusic responds:

thank you for that, it is very helpful. this was more a throw together very quickly type of song where I was looking for feedback on what I was doing in the song
thank you.

Cool track. Sure has lots of potential.

You should add a sweep sound at 0:28, or something in the background, it breaks the beat a little bit.

The beat is a bit repetitive. You should use more than one hat sound. It would be also interesting to have a second more powerfull snare hitting at the fourth beat, like boom tack boom TACK boom tack boom Tack. Even better, introduce it at the fourth bar, it will add a nice progression.

You should add a progression at this point (I would have introduced it at 1:25). Little pause (sweep sound or something else), return the bass with a strong lead, two bars with the bass at the same note, one bar with the bass at a lower note, one bar with the bass returning at the same note, and do it again. Your lead should be a melody which starts at first bar and stops at the fourth, repeating on the next four bars.

Great start, keep on going :P

BB-7 responds:

Thanks man

For that one, your intro was not representative of your track, you could've added a little bit of work and finesse. Try to use different kicks or drums at different intensity, or just add some variations to it!

For everything else: it was a good job :P You took good use of the dissonance, it fits well with the mood, and it flows correctly! Theme is coherent too, and the timestamp is constant enough.

As I said, the intro lacks of finesse, but at all, good piece!!

BowserThedestructive responds:

Thanks, I was gonna add some variations, but they ruined the feel of the song. So I worked around the kick, and clap and then added variations of the main melody line. Glad I am improving though.

Haha, lurk lurk lurk...

And that's a win!! I'm falling in my old habits, which is stalking everyone without telling them lol!

Ya, keep it up!

z-raven responds:
